DMS E-Update

Dear all - A few bullet points for you...

WELCOME ABOARD
We are pleased to announce that Anna Houser has joined our team!  Anna comes to us from the Electronic Media Lab. She wanted to transfer to the DMS. She is a sophomore and a Photography/English major and, of course, knows Photoshop well. She will start with us on Friday and will be working Monday-Wednesdays during the daytime.  Welcome aboard, Anna, we're glad you're here!!
MICRO TEXT COUNT USE ON HOLD
Until further notice, it is no longer necessary to scan in microtext reels using the Milennium count use feature.   The reason for this is that there are some inventory issues going on that makes this procedure no longer needed for the forseeable future.  We'll let you know when things change, but for now, don't worry about scanning in microtext reels any more.

REGISTRATION BEGINS NOVEMBER 14TH
As you may be well aware, it's time to register for your Spring classes.  Your new class schedule may affect your current DMS work schedule.  Lynda will put a form in each of your folders (look for the green one) where you can request your new hours of availability.  Please do this as soon as possible so Lynda can try to get your preferred hours on the master schedule.

Also, a heads up that the DMS traffic will likely increase due to students trying to complete online registration so let's be prepared to handle the higher volume.

HOLIDAY LIBRARY HOURS
The library will be closed on November 24-26.  A reminder that if you are scheduled to work on Wednesday the 23rd, you are expected to work your shift.  Post a substitute slip on the bulletin board if you need to cover your shift.  If you do not get a sub, you will need to work the scheduled hours.

You can see the official library calendar here.

DMS TRAINING QUIZZES
If you have not yet completed your training quiz, please see your shift leader who has your quiz with your name on it.  The quizzes will be given to you when you arrive on shift and must be turned in before leaving.

DON'T FORGET TO TURN IN YOUR TIME SHEETS
Reminder that Tuesday, November 15th is the deadline to submit your time sheet (and/or web log data entry).

LEADERSHIP QUOTE OF THE WEEK
"Kind words can be short and easy to speak, but their echoes are truly endless."  - Mother Teresa

Have a great weekend everybody!

Why a blog and not a weekly email?

Hey Gang!

For some things email is great, for others blogs are better.  We feel that this is the case with the weekly DMS E-Update.  Just like the library's goal is to empower patrons to "Find it All.  Here." so we want to empower you as a DMS staff of studio assistants and supervisors to keep track of all of our internal, private weekly communiques right here in one archived spot in date order.  How handy is that?

Combined with helpful links to information that is genuinely useful to you as a DMS specialist, we feel this upgrade will help make like easier for you.  Never fumble for a misplaced E-Update again!  Everything will be at your fingertips fron now on as it relates to keeping you in the loop of DMS info.

So what's the next step?  Simply enter your email address into the "Follow by email" field on the right side of this post and then forget about ever loggigng in to this blog again - using RSS technology the blog will now find you!  New posts will be pushed to your email address and you'll have a chance to interact and collaborate with your co-workers via posts.  Have fun!
